What Puppy Board and Train Actually Looks Like
It starts with you. In four private lessons, we build the foundation together using luring: sit, leash walking, place, potty training, crate training, and calm greetings. You learn how to teach your puppy, and your puppy learns how to learn.
Then, ideally between 8 and 12 months, your puppy lives and trains with me for two weeks at my home in Grass Valley. That's when we work on off-leash obedience, with daily training, exercise, rest, and real-world field trips around Roseville and the greater Sacramento area.
The goal is a puppy who listens off leash, not just in a quiet room, but when there's a dog across the street or a stranger at the door.

Who Your Puppy Will Be Living With
Your puppy isn't going to a kennel. Your puppy is coming to my house in Grass Valley — living with me, my dogs, my cat, the doorbell, the coming and going, all of it. Because that's what a home is, and a home is where your puppy has to work.
That's the whole point. A puppy can look perfect in a training room and fall apart in a living room. So we do life together. Meals, rest, the busy parts of the day, field trips out into Roseville and Sacramento with other trainers and other dogs. My house is a busy one. If yours is quieter, that's easy — I'd rather your puppy learn to hold it together here and then go home to something calmer than the other way around.
I have a list of credentials I'm happy to walk you through — vet tech years, sport titles, the trainers who taught me. Ask me at the consultation. But none of that is what makes this work.
What makes it work is that we build the plan together. I meet your puppy, I meet you, and we lay the foundation in your lessons. Then your puppy lives with me for two weeks and learns to listen off leash — so I can hand that back to you.

What vaccines does my puppy need?

Because your puppy lives with you, not me. In the lessons, you learn how to teach your puppy and we build the foundation together. That way the off-leash work during the stay has something solid to build on, and you already know how to keep it going.

I'm in Roseville. How does pickup and drop-off work?
I coordinate pickup and drop-off with each client when we set up your puppy’s program.
What training methods do you use?
My training is reward-based. I set your dog up to make good choices and reward those choices. If a puppy needs more help, we talk about other tools, like an e-collar, so you know exactly how and why it’s used.
Do you use e-collars on puppies?
Tools like an e-collar aren’t for every dog. Any tool is discussed with you up front and only used with your knowledge and approval.
What if my dog is older than 12 months?
Then my regular Board and Train program is the better fit. It's built for adolescent and adult dogs, and we can talk through which package makes sense at your consultation.
Will my puppy be fully trained after two weeks?
Your puppy comes home with a real foundation and off-leash skills to build on. Puppies keep growing and changing, so the training lasts when you keep practicing it at home, and that's exactly what the lessons prepare you for.
